Real Madrid Use Transfer Strategies For Xabi Alonso

Real Madrid have made a new move for Liverpool star Xabi Alonso using transfer strategies - offering less than they did before.

Last week Real Madrid offer £25million for Xabi Alonso was rejected - and their response was to reduce the figure by £3m in a new approach.

"Everybody knows that Real Madrid are interested in signing him (Alonso) but it won't be easy," the club's new coach Manuel Pellegrini admitted last night.

"We are looking at alternatives for some positions," he added.

"The attack is complete and perhaps a central midfielder or full-back is still missing but the rest of the positions are covered."

This summer Real Madrid have splashed out a big-spending fortune and this latest effort to get Alonso comes in the wake of reports in Spain that the Anfield star wants the move.

It is believed that Alonso have told Liverpool chief Rafa Benitez by phone that he wants to leave.

Real Madrid believe that Alonso wants to join them, but this latest transter strategies has only crush relationships between the two clubs.

Rafa Benitez knows it hard to replace Alonso, though players like Marseille's Lorik Cana and Standard Leige's Stefan Defour are on his radar.

Open Game, Real Madrid Still Eyeing Xabi Alonso

Real Madrid still looking for additional midfielder, but it may not be Cesc Fabregas... It is Xabi Alonso there are looking for.

We all know that Real Madrid is loooking for Alonso this summer, but Rafa is the wall. Madrid have tried many times but Rafa... will do his best not to let it happened.

"Madrid must not discard an option until it's totally gone," Miguel Pardeza-Madrid's new sporting director is quoted as saying by Reuters.

"There is an insurmountable financial barrier at the moment, but it's something that could change.

"We're looking at other options, although there aren't many."

Madrid's director general Jorge Valdano explained earlier this week that Fabregas is too similar to Kaka in his style for Madrid to need him and Pardeza reiterated that the Arsenal star is not being looked at.

"He is a great player, there's no doubt about that, but at this moment he is not a target for Real Madrid," he continued.

"The club is working on other alternatives."

Real Madrid offered Alvaro Negredo for Xabi Alonso

The striker has been attracting interest from England and also Italy...
03-Jul-2009

Real Madrid have reportedly offered Alvaro Negredo and cash to Liverpool in exchange for midfielder Xabi Alonso.

The previous bids for the Spaniard has been turned down and this is maybe the last option in their pursuit of him.

Real Madrid first €24 million bid rejected, then a €35 million bid including Alvaro Arbeloa also has been turned down, this time they are ready to offer the €41 million Liverpool want.

Real Madrid offered not only cash, but also Negredo, who Rafael Benitez has been an admirer of for some time.

The Liverpool boss believes that Alvaro Negredo would be an ideal signing to play alongside Fernando Torres and is keen to bring him to Anfield.

Juanma Lopez and Alejandro Camano the player's agents, have been in England discussing terms with Liverpool and also Tottenham Hotspur.

It is not only the two Premier League clubs, Roma and Genoa are both said to be interested in Negredo and where his future lies is not clear at the moment.

Liverpool Promise Real Madrid Xabi Alonso Talks Will Begin Soon

The deep-lying playmaker could become the next Galactico…
3 Jul 2009

Real Madrid will finally be granted a fair opportunity to negotiate with Liverpool for the transfer of Xabi Alonso.

According to AS, the Anfield outfit’s new managing director, Christian Purslow, has told his counterpart in the Spanish capital, Jorge Valdano, to give him a few days before opening formal discussions as he first wants to undertake an extensive revision of the club’s accounts to determine their economic situation and set an appropriate asking price for the midfielder.

Rafael Benitez has previously insisted that the 27-year-old would not be going anywhere for less than €40 million, a figure that the 'White House' would not even consider, but Italian newspaper Tuttosport speculated yesterday that the Reds would accept a €32m bid from Madrid.

The Spanish sports daily, on the other hand, believes that Purslow, who has been appointed as Liverpool’s chief negotiator in all transfer matters, could settle for a €35 million deal with full-back Alvaro Arbeloa included in the agreement.

Los Blancos are reportedly keeping in close contact with Alonso’s agent, Inaki Ibanez, while Valdano is said to have already begun working on a contractual agreement for the Basque-born midfielder.

Unsettled Alonso drops hint about Madrid move

By Ian Herbert
Tuesday, 30 June 2009

Rafael Benitez will seek talks with Xabi Alonso this week though the 27-year-old has given the strongest suggestion yet that he sees his future at the Bernabeu, rather than Anfield.

His latest disclosures, in Spain's Don Balon magazine, made reference to Benitez's willingness to sell him to Juventus last summer, a move which would have financed Gareth Barry's arrival and which rankled deeply with Alonso. "Last year I was close to joining Juventus," Alonso said. "It's always good that several clubs want you, but I can't do too much about it. I know that I have to do my work well and, in the future, I'll decide what I have to decide."

Asked if his would be an "impossible marriage" with Real Madrid, who covet him, he insisted: "No, it does not have to be." Alonso was also cool in his descriptions of his relationship with Benitez. "My relationship with Benitez is professional," he said. "I've already been in England five years and the truth is that I have adapted well. I'm happy there, though I do miss certain things from Spain. I cannot rule out a move or even staying in the Premier League." Real Madrid remain interested in a £20m move for Alonso.

Javier Mascherano is equally in demand with Barcelona seemingly not put off by the £50m price tag Benitez put on him. Despite giving defensive midfielder Yaya TourĂ© a new contract Barcelona president Joan Laporta has reiterated his interest in the Argentina captain. "Mascherano is a close friend of Leo Messi. We will see what happens. He's a player I like very much," he told a Spanish radio station.

Joining Real Madrid Is Not Impossible - Xabi Alonso

Real Madrid could yet land the midfielder from Liverpool this summer...
29 Jun 2009 14:23:47

Xabi Alonso has refused to rule out a move to Real Madrid this summer and has explained that he has not closed the door on any possibilities amidst reports that he could leave Liverpool.

The Basque Country midfielder has been linked with a switch to the Bernabeu this summer, but the rumours have subsided after manager Rafa Benitez stated he wanted the player to stay.

But Alonso was asked about his thoughts on moving back to la Primera with Madrid by Don Balon and he revealed that any number of things could still happen.

"In respect to all this I have not closed any door and we will just have to wait and see what happens," he told the weekly football magazine.

"It is always positive when various teams are said to want you because that is better than nobody being interested, but I cannot say much more.

"I know that I have to keep playing well and will be able to decide what happens next whenever it arises.

"I do not think a move to Real Madrid is impossible, but I would also have no regrets at all staying at Liverpool."

Benitez has been unhappy that both Alonso and Javier Mascherano have been linked with moves to la Primera, but the Spain international does not think the reports will affect their relationship.

"My relationship with Benitez is professional, just like he has with any other player. I believe that is how things will stay too," Alonso continued.

"I am happy in England and have adapted, but I do miss certain things from Spain. I cannot rule out a move or even staying in the Premier League.

"I am happy there and although I was a bit homesick at the start, I am still there.

"This situation is normal for me because I know what is actually happening, away from what is being reported. For that reason I am perfectly calm."

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso longs for home and refuses close door on Real Madrid move

By Sportsmail Reporter
Last updated at 3:30 PM on 29th June 2009

Xabi Alonso insists a move to Real Madrid is not impossible, despite Liverpool's determination to hold on to the midfielder.

Bernabeu president Florentino Perez has made no secret of his admiration for the Spain international.

And though Anfield boss Rafa Benitez insists the 27-year-old is not for sale, Alonso said: 'I don't close any door in that area, so we'll see what happens.'

In an interview with Spain's Don Balon magazine: 'Last year I was close to joining Juventus. I do not have a defined career plan.

'It's always good that several clubs want you, it's better than nobody wanting you, but I can't do too much about it.

'I know that I have to do my work well and, in the future, I'll decide what I have to decide.'

Asked if his would be an 'impossible marriage' to Real Madrid, he insisted: 'No, it does not have to be so impossible.'

Alonso is said to have been disappointed last summer that Liverpool were prepared to sell him to fund a move for England midfielder Gareth Barry, then at Aston Villa.

And the former Real Sociedad player's description of his relationship with Benitez hardly gives the impression of warmth.

'My relationship with Benitez is professional, like he has with any other player,' he said.

Alonso believes Liverpool have improved significantly since he came to England in 2004 and he believes they are closing the gap on Manchester United and Chelsea.

'In my opinion, the team has progressed, but in the end we did not win any titles, so we cannot be happy or satisfied,' he said.

'No doubt that in the Premier League, we were closer than in other seasons, and in the Champions League we got to the quarter-finals. But what everyone wants is to win titles.'

Though he insists he is settled in Merseyside, Alonso admits to occasionally suffering homesickness.

I've already been in England five years and the truth is that I have adapted well,' he said. 'I'm happy there, though from the beginning I have longed for certain things, and I continue to do so.'

Reports in Spain suggest Alonso will speak with Benitez this week to try to resolve his future. Madrid had hoped to sign him for £20million while Benitez has tried to price him out of the market by asking for £50m.

Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid Move Depends On David Villa – Report

A British tabloid claims that the Spanish giants will only sign the Liverpool midfielder if they fail to capture the Valencia striker...
28 Jun 2009 08:13:20

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso’s move to Real Madrid may depend on whether Los Merengues manage to prise David Villa away from Valencia, according to the News of the World.

The British tabloid claims that Los Blancos will sign Alonso from Liverpool if they miss out on Villa, as cash-splashing president Florentino Perez is desperate to sign more Spanish players.

The striker had appeared destined for a move to the Bernabeu, and indeed has admitted that it is his preferred destination, yet that deal now appears to have stalled.

To cloud matters further, European champions Barcelona are believed to have entered the race to sign Villa, meaning his future remains the subject of much debate.

Yet, should Madrid ultimately fail to sign the Spainish international striker, the NOTW claims that they will then redouble their efforts to bring Alonso to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The paper also adds that Los Merengues will be willing to meet Liverpool’s asking price of €30 million for their midfielder.

Whilst Reds boss Rafael Benitez continues to insist that Alonso is not for sale, should the club receive a substantial offer for the midfielder it would have to be taken seriously.

The most recent reports surrounding Alonso suggest he has been saying his Anfield goodbyes, which has only hastened speculation he will leave Merseyside this summer.
